Dan – thanks for sharing this post with me on Google+. Your blog has me a bit intrigued, as I have absolutely zero experience with PPC. To be honest, I had never even heard of a “negative keyword!” Super interesting how you use Long Tail Pro for this type of research.

For keyword researchers like myself, people who are trying to rank websites for certain keywords, it is always good to know the strategies that people like you are using. Understanding the entire market is certainly beneficial.

    Hi Matthew,

I’m glad I’ve intrigued you a little bit, and with no experience of PPC I’ll take that as a very big compliment, thank you!

I started off in SEO, developed a group of sites monetised through affiliate marketing and then picked up PPC, which is now my ‘day job’ and passion, so I’m going to attempt to (eventually) get all three running side-by-side on the blog :)

LTP is a great tool to use for negative keywords and many people already have a copy for its ‘typical’ purpose, so it’s a win-win situation if you ever happen to cross into the realms of PPC.

    Thanks for your comment!
